ELGA damage declaration
When a damage declaration is needed
An ELGA damage declaration is required when agricultural production (plant or animal) has suffered damage from natural causes such as frost, hail, flood, drought, or disease.
Ask / check first
- Has ELGA announced for your area?
- Which village or farm does the damage concern?
- Which crop or livestock was affected?
- When did the damage happen (or start)?
- Is your DKE/OSDE current and valid?
What to check first
- DKE/OSDE: Single Aid Application in effect
- ATAK: Land parcel details
- AFM and identification
- Submission deadline (depends on ELGA announcement)
- Damage photos (before and after if possible)
Common documents
- AFM (Tax ID)
- DKE/OSDE (Single Aid Application)
- ATAK (land parcel data)
- Crop/livestock details
- Damage photos
- ELGA announcement (if available)
Where to file the declaration
The damage declaration is usually filed through the local ELGA correspondent or your municipality. The exact route depends on the ELGA announcement for each event.
Deadlines
The process and deadlines depend on the region, the event, and the official announcement. Check ELGA announcements for your area regularly.
Deadlines: what you need to know
There is no single national deadline. Each deadline depends on the damaging event, the region, and the official announcement. As soon as damage occurs, check ELGA announcements immediately.
Objection / Reassessment
If you disagree with the damage assessment, you can submit a reassessment request or objection. The deadline and procedure are stated in the compensation decision. Make sure to keep copies of all documents.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check whether there is an open ELGA damage declaration deadline?
Visit the ELGA website (elga.gr) or contact the local correspondent at your municipality. Announcements are published by region and cause of damage.
What is DKE/OSDE and why is it needed?
The Crop/Livestock Declaration (DKE) via OSDE is the annual declaration of land parcels and crops. Without it, ELGA cannot verify what you were cultivating.
What photos are needed?
Photograph the land parcel, the damage to plants or animals, and any visible natural cause (e.g. hail on the ground). If you have photos from before the damage, keep those as well.
What if the deadline has passed?
It depends on the case. In some instances ELGA accepts late declarations within limits. Contact the correspondent or ELGA directly to ask.
What is the objection/reassessment?
If you believe the damage assessment was incorrect, you can file an objection requesting a new inspection. The objection must be submitted within the deadline stated in the decision.
